Volunteering at MSLT - Could you be a school governor?
-
Are you committed, open, confident, curious, transparent, collaborative, critical, creative and trustworthy?
-
Do you have an interest in how the school runs?
-
Want to make a difference for our children?
-
Want to support a school in your local community?
The local governing bodies at MSLT schools play an important role in supporting the school and holding them to account for standards. All governors volunteer their time and are mainly either parents or members of the local community.
Our Local Governing Bodies are currently looking for members of the local community to become governors. To take on this role, you don't need to be an expert in education or have current links with the school. What is really important, is being committed to the successful running of the school. In particular, this means being available to give your time to be in school and to attend meetings at various times throughout the year. This commitment would ideally suit someone who is perhaps retired, works part-time or has a job that is flexible.
In return, you'll find that being a governor is hugely rewarding and that you develop new skills and knowledge.
If you would like to find out more or would be willing to become a governor, we would love to hear from you. As a school that is committed to building a diverse community, we're particularly keen to hear from people from under-represented groups and with protected characteristics, particularly older people and those with disabilities.
For more information or to express an interest please contact the Head of Governance, Elaine Cooper at governance@mslt.org.uk
